The Countdown2Extinction Yahoo!Widget was created as a constant reminder that the species of our world are in peril.  According to Conservation International and the studies they've cited here, the Earth will lose 25% of its species by 2050.  That equates to approximately 1 species every 20 minutes.  We have designed this widget to countdown every 20 minutes and keep a running tally of species lost since your widget has been running.
